Note from granddaughter Hilda Mares O’Brien: Grandpa (John) felled the logs and hewed them to make the log cabin. He carried the cook stove on his back from the train in Appleton or Oshkosh. They had no other way. They had no horses or anything. They just started out from scratch. May have been married in Cedarburg, WI.
