Misc:
“I can remember when I was ten or eleven years old (about 1910-11), aunt Katie and Mary Ryan came up to visit us. They took me back to Milwaukee. That was the first time I was ever out of Bear Creek and I thought that was the greatest thing. I went on the train with them and I stayed for a week or two. They took me to the Washington Park Zoo - I saw those vegetable men had watermelon. I got a cough and Ma said to put that girl on the train send her home. I didn’t want to go home. I loved it and I had the best time there. It was over July 4th. Aunt Katie was holding Howard, their baby and we went to Cedarburg. There was a big picnic, and horse races - I had ribbons in my hair.”
