Born: 24 Oct 1872, Dundee, Sheboygan Co, WI        

   

Parents: Marcus Tupper and Wealthy Ann Webb

 

Siblings: Frank Harvey (1869/70-1923), Oran C.(1872-1902), William Marcus (1880-1941)

 

Marriage: 3/4/1890 to Annie “Pearl” Reinert, Sheboygan Co., WI. George & Pearl were married at the Methodist Church in Sheboygan. George’s brother Frank and Pearl’s sister Hattie Reinert served as wittnesses. George was 17 years old.

 

Death: 12 Oct 1913, age 40 of TB in Sheboygan, Wi; buried Wildwood Cemetary, section 1,Sheboygan, Wi

Obituary: From the Sheboygan Press 10/12/1913:
Mr. George Tupper, aged 43 years, died yesterday morning at 6 o’clock at his home 814 Leland Ave. Death was due to tuberculosis meningitis. He had been ill 11 weeks. The deceased was born in Saukville, Wisconsin (*incorrect) Oct. 24 1870 (birth certicate filed in Sheboygan Co 10/24/1872) and resided in this city for the past 25 years. For 15 of these years he was associated with the Twig Shoe Company and later became a traveling salesman for the Sheboygan Shoe Company. Besides his wife he is survived by six children, Mrs. F.E. (S.E.) Krainbrink, Detroit, Michigan; Frank, Estella, Edith, Lester and Warren all at home. Also two brothers, William of Milwaukee and Frank of Two Rivers. The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon at 1:30 o’clock from the home and 2 p.m. from the First Methodist Church. Internment will take place in Wildwood cemetery

Misc notes:

Marriage certificate states he was born in Dundee, Wi. The family always lived in Sheboygan Co, but near the border of  FonduLac Co., the closest town being  in that county. Consequently many of the records like census, birth, marriage, etc list place of birth as FonduLac Co, when in fact they are all recorded in Sheboygan Co Vital Statistics. Many times when  people lived near the border of two counties, wherever the church & minister were from determined how the baptismal/marriage/death certificate  was made out.

 

Article in the Sheboygan Press 5/18/1910:

A new hiking club consisting of George Tupper, Frank Tupper and 4 others has been organized and the first walk taken Sunday when the party walked to Our town and Six Corners. A different route has been planned for each Sunday.
