Hattie Bridget Reinert

Born: 15 Jul 1870, Wisconsin (Oshkosh?)

Parents: Frank Reinert and Delina Forbes

Siblings: Irving, Annie “Pearl”, Ina, Metta/Nettie, Francis Marian

Marriage: to Matthew Doherty , June 18, 1902, Sheboygan Co, WI

Children: Nora Marion, Francis Reinert, Helen Josephine, Thomas Verdon, Bridget Delia, Dennis, Joseph

Death: 23 Apr 1911, age  40, of pneumonia after childbirth.  Buried: Cascade, Town of Lyndon, Sheboygan Co, Wisconsin

From the Sheboygan Press, April 24th, 1911:
Mrs. Matthew Doherty, residing two and one half miles west of Cascade, and a sister of Miss Irene Reinert of this city, died at 4 o’clock this morning after a brief illness. Pneumonia was the direct cause of her demise. Mrs. Doherty is survived by a husband and six small children, one an infant. Mrs. Doherty, nee Hattie Reinert, was a well known resident of this county and her untimely death will be (deplored?) by a large following of friends. The family have the sympathy of their many friends in these sad hours.

Hattie’s husband died just 4 years later of TB. The children were either adopted out or were living with relatives after Matthew’s death.

In 1920 census, I was able to find the following Doherty children in the Sheboygan Co area: Nora was living in Milwaukee, ward 25; unable to locate Francis under different spelling variations including Frank or his middle name Reinert; Thomas “Verdon’ was living with the Joseph Fee family, listed as cousin; unable to locate Bridget Delia; Dennis is listed as adopted son of Mike and Susan Hoy; Joseph is listed as the adopted son of John Doherty.

Reinert Girls, date of photo unknown,

Delina is sitting in the wicker rocker, the identity of the rest of her daughters in the photo is unknown. It is believed that Annie Pearl is siiting next to Delina. Daughter Frances Marian died in a fire in 1898; one of the daughters is missing from the photo and could be Frances.
