Occupation: Admitted to Bar, Nov. 1874 (studied with Judge Wm. Williams, Sheboygan Falls).
Moved to Hartford, WI 1864. Justice of the Peace, Superintendent Sheboygan schools
Attended UW-Madison 1856-60. Traveled and taught in South, 1860-1861 (Missouri, Arkansas, Mississippi). Impressed into confederate army 1861, escaped and enlisted in Co.I, 1st Wisconsin Infantry, Sept. 1861. Wounded at Perryville, Oct.8, 1862. Honorable discharge (Sgt) in March.
