Parents: Folmer Marthenze and Catharina Schleth

 

Siblings: John (1885/6-1974), George (1886-1962), Teana Cathryn (1891-1977) and Folmar Charles (1894-1948)      Step Sibling: Anna Catharina (Hammond)

 

Marriage: to James Poppe 9/26/12, Sheboygan, WI (Margaret and her sister Teana married Poppe brothers).

 

Children: Jane (circa 1914, never married), Helen (circa 1916) married Gilles Kaat,  and Carl James (1919-1983) lived in California, married Greta Nygaard 1943 Los Angeles, CA

 

Death: 7 Jul 1939, Sheboygan, WI; at 53 years of age of retroperitoneal sarcoma of the spine. Buried Wildwood Cemetery, Sect. 7, Sheboygan, WI

 

Obituary from the Sheboygan Press, July 8, 1939:

“Plan Last Rites for Mrs. Poppe at Falls on Monday”

Private funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Poppe, who passed away Friday at St. Nicholas Hospital, will be held Monday at 2 pm at the A.E. Rauchert Funeral Home in Sheboygan Falls. Burial will be made in the Wildwood cemetery.

Mrs. Poppe was born in the Town of Wilson on Oct. 21, 1889, the daughter od Mrs. and Mrs. Fohmer Marthenze. She received her education at Wilson.  She was married to Mr. James Poppe on September 26, 1912. The couple lived in the Towns of Sheboygan Falls and Wilson, but resided in the city of Sheboygan Falls for the last 3 years. She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Jane, at home, and Mrs. Gilles A. Kaat of the Town of Sheboygan, one son, Carl, at home; two sisters, Mrs. Orville C. Hammond, of Lansing Michigan, and Mrs. Andrew Poppe of the Town of Sheboygan; 3 brothers, John, George and Fohmer, all of the Town of Wilson; one grandson, Kenneth Kaat.

In the 1910 census, Illinois Cook Co, (Evanston) Margaret was a servant, age 20.

In center row, eldest daughter Anna from marriage to Maria Boos is sitting next to Folmer Sr., Catharina Schleth is sitting next to Folmer. Boys standing in back row are George and John; Folmer Jr. is youngest boy sitting next to half-sister Anna. The other two little girls sitting in front are Teana and Margaret.
