Death: 25 Dec 1935, Kenosha, WI, from complications of thyroid surgery. Buried St. James Cemetery, Kenosha.

“Succumbs Christmas Night at St. Catherine’s After Short Illness”
Mrs. Mary F. Mares, age 56, of 6103 Twenty-fourth ave, the wife of Christian Mares, passed away at St. Catherine’s hospital Christmas night following a short illness. The deceased was born in Austria on Sept. 23, 1879, the daughter of Wenzel and Katherine Fleischmann. Before coming coming to Kenosha in 1920 she resided for many years at Bear Creek, Wis. In 1900 she was united in marriage to Christian Mares at Bessimer, Mich. Mrs. Mares was a devout member of St. Thomas’ church and an active worker of the Alter Society. Besides her husband she is survived by two sons and three daughters: Phillip of Racine, Leonard of Kenosha, Mrs. Barbara Mauel, Alvina and Bernice, all of Kenosha. Three brothers and four sisters also survive: Frank, Charles and Joseph Fleischmann, Mrs. Barbara Hubatch, Mrs. Katherine Zeorn, Mrs. Theresa Carley, and Mrs. Frances Koehler, all of Antigo, Wis. The body was removed from the Crossin funeral home to the late residence this afternoon. Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 8:30 o’clock from the residence. The cortege will then proceed to St. Thomas church where mass will be read at 9 o’clock. Internment will follow in the family plot at St. James’ cemetery.
