Miles Sweeney Jr. Family

Mr. and Mrs. M. G. Sweeney of this city had the honor of observing the 58th anniversary of their marriage on Tuesday, March 3. On account of. the recent death of Mrs. Sweeney’s niece, the day was passed without any special celebration, with only members of their immediate family with them.
Among those present were Mrs. Grossman of Seattle, Wash., and Mrs. Brennan of Baraboo, Wis., nieces of Mrs. Sweeney. who are visiting at the Sweeney home.Mr. Sweeney. was born at Pittsburgh, Pa.. February 20, 1850, and is now 88 years old. Mrs. Sweeney, 78 years of age, was born at Baraboo, Wis., on. September 22, 1857. The couple were married in Chicago, Ill., March 3, 1878. After residing in Wisconsin, they came to Iowa 40 tears ago. For the past 25 years, they have lived in Sheldon. Mr. Sweeney is a retired farmer.
The Sweeneys have nine living children: Dr. James Sweeney of Mitchell, S. D., M. J. of Sheldon .W. C. of Fargo, N. D.; Rev. C Sweeney of Fort Dodge, Iowa, L. F. of Chicago, John of Sioux City, Mrs. H. S. Mather (Esther) of Hollywood, Cal., Ray P. Sweeney Santa Fe, N. M., and George of Beverly Hills, Cal. Two children died in infancy, a daughter, Mrs. M. Johnston, many years ago, a son, Hugh Sweeney of Sioux Falls, a few months ago. There are grandchildren and five great-grand children.
Mr. and Mrs. Sweeney received many messages of congratulations and received a few intimate friends throughout the day. Both are in good health and attend mass at Patrick’s church every morning.
