Sarah/Sally Dana

Born: 4/7/1783 (family history sheet from Parishville NY town Historian’s office) also, 10/1871 Lebanon, Grafton NH (LDS site); no birth certificate is on file there for her. Not listed in the Dana’s of America book

Parents: unknown; LDS site lists Wm. Dana and Johanna Sessions; vital records in Lebanon NH has several children listed for this couple, but not Sarah/Sally.  Since Sally is living in Lebanon NH at the time of her marriage in 1805, it is likey her parents are there.  The only Dana family living in Lebanon NH in 1800 and 1810 are William Dana and William Dana Jr, making it likely that William is her father. He does have one female in the 16-25 year age group; Sally would have been 17 in 1800.

Siblings: (presumed) William (1771-?), Joanna (1773-?), Simeon (1775-?), Fanny (1778-?), Jedidah (1780-?), Daniel

Marriage: John Flavel Willis,  6/23/1805 (marriage certificate on file Lebanon, NH, does not list parents name, groom is from Norwich, VT, bride from Lebanon; Willis is spelled Willys on certificate)

Children:  Joanna (1806),  Austin (1808),  Sally (1811),  Fanny (1813),  John F. Jr (1815),  National (1817-1826),  Hannah (1819),  Charles B. (1822), Betsey (1824)

Death: 9/30/1842, age 59 years, 5 months, 23 days. Buried Riverview Cemetery, Parishville, NY

Exerpt from son Charles’ obituary, ” His mother, Sally Dana, a singularly gifted woman, was a sister of Elder Dana, who built the old Dana Meeting House in New Hampshire which is now owned and preserved by the State as a memorial to it’s founder. ”
