In 1923 Tina and Andrew sponsored their cousins, Martin, Richard and Emmy Schleth to come this country from Germany.  Martin and Richard were the sons of Catharina’s brother, Jurgen, who lived in Neumunster.  Emmy was Richard’s wife.   They brought their little son, Gustave, or Guschi as he was called, with them from Germany.  I found Gustav’s address in the Sheboygan phone book in Aug. of 1998 and wrote him a letter, but he did not responded.

From the Sheboygan Press, Dec. 7th, 1971:

“Andrew Poppe Pair Honored ON 55th Event”

The 55th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Poppe, 4909 Evergreen Dr., was celebrated on two recent occasions. The pair was married Nov. 22, 1916.  Mrs. Margaret Holzwart, one daughter, entertained the brothers and sisters of the former bridegroom, during a Friday Nov. 19th event in her parents home. On Thanksgiving Day, a son-in-law and daughter of the pair, Mr. and Mrs. Harold (Marilyn) Brocker, gave a dinner for the immediate family at their home in Green Bay. Table decor featured cupcakes with the numeral “55.” In addition to the couple’s two daughters, other descendants include nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Mrs. Poppe is the former Teana Marthenze. Although retired, the pair originally operated a vegetable garden on S. 9th street for nearly 50 years.
