Truman Colt
Born: 1799 Connecticutt (no birth certificate on file at Harwinton Town clerks office; no birth certificate’s on file there for any children of Abel Allen Colt and Polly Webster; Abel Allen’s is on file there from 1769. Family was living in Harwinton in 1800)
Parents: Probably Abel Allen Colt and Mary “Polly” Webster Another distant Colt relative, Ron Colt Snow, had Truman listed in his family history, although I have no specific documentation for it. His history did correctly include previously verified information about Truman and his marriage, children, etc, so is presumed to be true. Other published Colt family histories for Truman’s parents did not have a complete listing of the children, and Truman as well as some of the others were left off.
Siblings: Chloe, Laura, Allen Jr., Mary, Harry, Nancy, Martin
Marriage: to Sephronia Forbes, date unknowm, in NY state.
Children: Stephan, Eunice (died young), George M., Mary Jane, Horace, ?Adalissa (shows up in one census only - 1855, age 14, so should have been on the 1850 census. May be relative)
Occupation: farmer, Otselic township, Chenango CO. NY.
Death: 22 Feb 1860, place unknown. May have been enroute to Wisconsin. This date of death was provided by Ron Colt Snow; however, Truman is not listed in 1860 DEATHS reported in 1860 Census, June 1, 1859 - May 31, 1860 for Chenango Co; if he did die in Chenango Co in 1860, he should have been listed. Wife Sephronia, widowed, is believed to be living in Wisconsin by June 1860 with son Stephan.

1830 NY census, Chenango Co, Smyrna township; all persons in household match up with known family
1 male <5 (George), 1 male 5-10 (Stephan), 1 male 30-40 (Truman), 1 female <5 (Mary Jane), 1 female 5-10 (Eunice), 1 female 30-40 (Sophronia) and one female 70-80 (this female could be Sophronia’s mother, Rebecca, as she would have been 75 y/o, whereas Truman’s mother would have been only 62.

Research:
I contacted the Guernsey Memorial Library in Norwich, NY and they have no records on Truman Colt, including cemetery listing or will.
