Funeral services for Wenzel Fleischman, 73, who died Wednesday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Frank Hubatch, in the town of Rolling, were held Saturday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock at St. John’s Catholic church. The Rev. Dean C. Saile conducted short services and interment was in the Catholic cemetery. The pallbearers were: Frank, Wolfgang, and Joseph Wild, Albert Fleischman, Rast Hoecheri, and Joseph Hoecheri. Those from out-of-town who attended this funeral were: Mrs. Christ Mares, Kenosha; and Margaret and Catherine Hubatch, Mrs. Charles Peters and son, Bud, and Mrs. George Mauntan, all of Milwaukee.
Wenzel Fleischman was born June, 1857, in Austria. He was married to Catherine Wild in the old country October 17, 1881. He came to America forty-nine years ago, and lived in Antigo for two years. Then the family moved to Bessemer, where they also lived for two years and came back to Antigo. They settled on a farm in the town of Rolling, where they lived for thirty-five years. About a year ago they moved to the farm of their daughter, Mrs. Frank Hubatch, where their home has been since.
Eleven children were born to this union, three of whom died. The living are: Mrs. Christ Mares, Kenosha; Mrs. Frank Hubatch, Mrs. Herbert Carley, Mrs. Joseph Zoern, Mrs. William Koeler, and Frank, Charles, and Joseph Fleischman, all of Antigo. He leaves to mourn his loss his widow and children, seventy-eight grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren. On Wednesday morning at 8:00 o’clock at St. John’s church, a requiem high mass will be celebrated for Wenzel Fleischman, due to the fact that requiem high masses are forbidden by the Catholic Church during Holy Week.
